Your Dose of Dance: Remembering Gus Giordano

By Amy Mikel in Arts & Entertainment on Oct 24, 2008 10:55PM

giordano2.JPGGus Giordano, a man who left a substantial mark on the form of modern jazz dance, passed away last March, and now his Chicago dance company is honoring his legacy with a duel set of performances this weekend at Harris Theater.

For two evenings this weekend, Giordano Jazz Dance Chicago, now run by Gus’s daughter Nan, is dancing a tribute program to Giordano, using work by choreographers that Giordano personally mentored or inspired. GJDC is a certainly a world-class company with some powerful and technically proficient dancers – seeing them perform Impetus will knock your socks off – so we are looking forward to seeing the company dance a rousing farewell to their master, showing their appreciation in the language he understands best.
