WCR @ UIC: OMG

The Windy City Rollers are officially back in the Windy City, as they kicked off their residency at the UIC pavillion after a three year stint at the Cicero Stadium. Being back in the city proper helped start things off right for the flat-track derby girls - hundreds came out to watch skaters like Athena DeCrime, Belle Diablo and Donna Party beat the everliving bejesus out of the visiting Carolina Rollergirls by a score of 191 to 16. The two free beers per fan thanks to Fan Appreciation night helped fuel the loud cheering and standing ovations throughout the evening.
Now, truth be told, even after a full hour of dizzying action and bruising collisions, we're still not entirely sure how all those points got on the board - between power jams, whistles blowing for lead jam status and many different blocking strategies, we lost track of how to really win the game - but it doesn't matter. Any sport where the use of the butt is so pronounced in the defensive game is fine with us.
