Did anyone else watch The Rachel Zoe Project on Bravo? It followed the oh-so-theatrical daily life of the celebrity stylist and her two oil-and-water assistants as they weathered the storm of dressing stars for Hollywood red carpet moments. Sounds pretty shallow, right? Well, it was. And we were grotesquely enamored with it. It wasn’t so much Rachel’s glamorama lifestyle of rubbing elbows with celebs that kept us glued. It was her 1) her turns of phrase wrought with end-of-the world drama. (Examples: “You are my life. I die. Killing it on a whole 'nother level. Shut it down.”) And 2) her over-the-top boho style that we actually kind of dug.
Though she has access to every designer gown off the runway before it even hits stores, she dresses in only vintage. It got us wondering where in the world we could find old-school designer duds. We weren’t sure it was possible this far in from the coasts, but we were pleasantly surprised to find out we were wrong. The Garment Room, a boutique loft in Pilsen, specializes in vintage pieces. Most of the clothes are big ticket items (Gucci, Christian Dior, Chloe, Lanvin) and as such, draw in buyers from miles around. However, for those of us who are a little more “Happy Hour” than “Oscar night,” the store offers a weekly “Vintage and Vino” event every Friday. Between 6 and 10 p.m., shoppers can sip complimentary cocktails and browse the more moderately-priced garb, including the store’s $48 rack. One thing to note is that owner Tiffany Nicole will not be holding the event this Friday since it’s Halloween, but plans to resume next week. In the meantime we suggest dressing up as Rachel Zoe until you can get your hands on the good stuff.
The Garment Room, 1747 S. Halsted, 12 - 8 p.m. daily, Vintage and Vino on Fridays only.

i watched it. i thought i was the only one.
and her phrases? it took me a while to figure out "I die" was a good thing.
Doesn't Bravo now cater exclusively towards reality shows that showcase the petty problems of the wealthy? Another notch in the belt.
Yeah, but have you seen The Real Housewives of Atlanta. . .that show is crunk (is that how you would use that word?)
real world vs. road rules challenge tonight on MTV, now we're talking...
@lamgray - i stumbled across that show the other night. being from the area, i was...actually not shocked at all. I'm still holding out for The Real Housewives of Huntsville, Alabama...that would be Must See TV.
