Quick Bites

Leading off this week with two items related to the Alinea Book (I'm still not finished reading it.):
- Andrew Huff interview Mike Nagrant regarding the prolific food critic's contribution to the aforementioned monolith, an essay on Grant Achatz's "Black Truffle Explosion" dish. [Drive-Thru]
- Blogger Carol Blymire finally launches "Alinea at Home," where she attempts to make every recipe in the book. First up: bacon, butterscotch, apple, thyme, AKA "Bacon on a Wire." [Alinea at Home, via MP Chicago]
- Remember when Hecky's of Chicago was shut down by the Health Department, which spurred owner Hecky Powell to issue a press release stating that the owners of that establishment only licensed the Hecky's name? It's now named "Hickory's of Chicago." I smell a "Roscoe's/Rosscoe's House of Chicken and Waffles" controversy brewing.[Dish, 7th item]
- Chicago Bites was inspired by Jackie Shen at Chicago Gourmet. Visiting Red Light? Not so much. [Chicago Bites]
- "Dignity and I have met, but I wouldn't say we're close." [Fruit Slinger]
