We know this is bordering on overload, but the admiration many of us here at Chicagoist have for Studs can't be overstated. So we'll leave you tonight with this outstanding and extensive interview with Studs from 2003.
Good night, sir.

Good night, sir.
what an incredible life.
cheers to studs
One Saturday a couple of years ago I had the radio on, and he was being interviewed.
I just had to stop everything I was doing to listen...I couldn't believe that I was listening to a man in his 90's.
He was just incredible...I mean he STILL had his pulse on what was going on in the country, in the world. I was just amazed.
In stark contrast to an old guy, in my neighborhood who was also around 90 or so, (he passed away a couple of years ago) who I would visit every so often. His family never came around much, so myself and a couple of other people just took it upon ourselves to keep him company every now and then. And it was such a chore. This old guy wasn't senile or anything, but just very self absorbed and really had no idea what was happening in the world. All he wanted to do was talk about himself and how much money he had...it was just so tedious. I felt like I had to be so patronizing, and that takes a lot of energy out of you.
Studs is one of those people that we can all aspire to be like. I have realized, and Studs is proof of this, that the most important things you can do when you grow old are to stay active and stay involved in the community. If you don't, you become a complete bore.
(I also have an autographed book of his :)
