Write Your Novels, Right Now!

11-01-08_NaNoWriMo.pngIt’s November 1, which means it’s National Novel Writing Month, celebrating it’s 10th year this year. National Novel Writing Month, or NaNoWriMo, encourages anyone who wants to participate to finish a novel in the course of 30 days. In other words, 175 pages of prose equalling 50,000 words.

Through the years, over 25 writers have been able to get their novels published. Last year, over 100,000 people participated, resulting in 15,333 winners. So far, over 2,000 aspiring writers have signed on here in Chicago. Chicago writers have partnered with Open Books to host write-in nights and other events to help authors stay motivated.

To be added to the list of official winners, participants must reach 50,000 words by November 30 at midnight. So start writing, people!
