Oprah's Midas Touch Boosts Sun-Times Sales

2008_11_07chicagosuntimes.BMPOprah began her live presidential party on Wednesday with a copy of the Sun-Times in hand, with its stoic image of Barack Obama and simple headline, "Mr. President," declaring it her favorite from that day. As she later told her guest Will Smith, "It was the best paper of all the papers in the world." And she had a lot to choose from.

Since then, sales of extra copies of that issue have boomed. (Sure, this is to be expected, but a nod from Oprah always helps.) The Sun-Times kept their presses rolling, cranking out an additional 350,000 papers to keep up with sales. If you want in on the acton, stop by their store at 350 N. Orleans to purchase Wednesday's issue for $5, or order by phone at (866) 614-5196 or online at suntimes.com/backissues for $10 a pop. [S-T]
