Kid Blogger Gets Letter From Obama

11112008-chicagoist-kidblog.jpgStanislaw "Stas" Gunkel is the Doogie Howser of political blogging. Not only does the 7-year-old boy from Edison Park have his own blog, Planet Stas, but he recently received a letter from president elect Barack Obama thanking him for his support and offering some advice: "Look out for other people, even when it does not directly benefit you; strive to make a difference everywhere you go; and get back up every time you are knocked down."

Stas watched and learned from his parents, Ann Hetzel Gunkel and David Gunkel, who have their own personal blogs and sometimes help Stas type and design the blog's art. Past entries include an event review of the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, his studies of Gavotte by Gossec, and most recently his election coverage "Kids for Obama" posts. Unfortunately, his 7:30 bed time kept him from live-blogging on election night. We cannot even restrain ourselves from saying it: "Oh mah gah that is too cute." Stas, there's a guest blogger spot on Chicagoist with your name on it.
