I can't belive that they took Eddie & JoBo off of B96. They were B96! I have been listening to them for years and they have always made me laugh. I have met them and they are the nicest guys ever! I know that I will never listen to B96 ever again. Guess I have to listen to Drex!

Steve Dahl is still the best thing going on in Chicago radio IMO. If I want music for background noise, I'll listen to my mp3 player. I don't need to hear the same Coldplay song 8 times a a day. Get a clue, program directors. And Todd Cavanah, bite me.

Does anyone know of any decent radio DJ's anymore?

I remember my mom and dad listening to Dahl, Matthews, and Brandmeier everyday in the car. Throw in all of Chicago's famous radio personalities through the years and I'm amazed at how bad Chicago radio has become.

I listen to B96 on my clock radio because it's a piece of shit and it only pulls in like 4 stations...so B96 it is. As a result, I have my fair share of Eddie and Jobo while I snooze my morning away. The timing of this is funny, because they've been talking for the last few days about their ratings, and how they're #1 in the 18-30 market.

So, clearly the listeners thought they were still getting it done. Interesting move by CBS. Wonder if the guys knew they were done, and that's why they kept bringing up the ratings on air.

@ophmarketing:

He's being beaten by Moody Bible Radio.

Dahl was smart enough to get some kind of kryptonite contract back when he was ruling WCKG. They either have to air him or pay him to sit around. Frankly, I think that's why he got the 5am slot on Jack, an attempt to get him to quit.

Odd thing is, on Jack his show improved quite a bit. Less wandering, more content, a bit more bite in his voice. I've been listening for almost ten years, I'm sorry to see him go.

I met Eddie and Jobo twice in my old job. Two EXTREMELY nice guys. Very self-effacing and funny. I never cared for the music they played, but they were gentlemen.

As much as I'm largely indifferent to the appeal (or lack thereof) of Eddie and JoBo, news like this coming from CBS Radio does make me fear for the future of Steve Dahl's Jack-FM morning show.

If the new ratings really do show him (as he's claimed) coming in dead last, how much longer can it be before he and Buzz are replaced by non-stop '80s big hair hits?

Do they at least get to keep the toupees?

Seriously, it's about time. I mean, isn't there a law against guys in their 40s and 50s trying to be all hip-hop and stuff?
