Do people really think this was an unintentional accident highlighting stupidity? This was clearly done to generate the national notice that has been taken. Otherwise this would have only been seen by some percentage of the 600,000 people in Alaska.

If you think this happened out of stupidity, you've fallen for it.

Back in my newspaper days,I did a series of articles on a new chicken processing plant in the county just south of me. I got to take a tour, which naturally included the slaughter room. I was shocked at how industrial, clean, and orderly it was. The chickens were merely hung upside down from a moving conveyor belt, which put them into a trance before running them into a completely dark room. The belt then took them through a blade contraption that slit their throats. The chickens barely reacted.

What shocks me about this is the sheer number of people who had to know what they were setting up here, and yet nobody thought to shift a few feet. Yep, we dodged a national bullet with this one.

I almost wet myself watching this last night. That she just...goes...on, never even glancing around for a second.

I swear the turkey farmer was smiling as he feeds that bird in.

She's our generation's Dan Qualye. Only we were smart enough not to elect the moron.

One NBC last night they blurred out the right side of the screen. I was imagining something much more graphic. The process used here is very quick and humane. I don't understand the fear of showing/knowing where ones food comes from. The metal funnel keeps the turkey from flailing around while the blood drains after its throat is cut.

As some one who has actually slaughtered chickens I am more disgusted by the reaction meat eating people have to the slaughtering process than I am with the actual process.

I have to think that the camera man set this shot up. It is just not possible to frame a shot like this by accident.

Who the hell let this woman film this. She is a fucking moron and this just continues her down her path of stupidity. Keep it up Sarah, I dont want to have to see you again in 2012.

Well, I certainly didn't need to see a disclaimer. I saw the video on Huffpost this morning and I didn't watch it then and I'm not watching it now.

I don't need to see how the turkey gets killed. When I bring the turkey home from the store every year, I just always pray that it didn't suffer.

BTW, I read an interview recently with a rabbi concerning the kosher stance on killing animals and how they're supposed to do it in a such a way where the animal does not suffer. He said that this is not always true.
And all these years I had thought that buying kosher meat was a good way to ensure that I was eating meat that hadn't suffered while being killed.

That was worse than finding out there was no Santa.

I'm more annoyed by MSNBCs running text commentary at the bottom. Why do they feel the need to try to be funny? The video works best on its own. Let everyone interpret however they want to.

Mucky - point taken, but we don't put that disclaimer and rest assured we'd get several comments or emails in the vein of "Why didn't you warn us? Disgusting!"

Are Palin's handlers really this stupid? It reminds me of the In Living Color sketch where there's an on-the-scene interview while Jim Carrey stands in the background acting like Jim Carrey.

Hats off to the Turkey strangler. I love to eat chickens, turkeys, cows and pigs...but I don't want to be bothered with having to hunt for it. Yokels like him make fetching dinner much easier. Thanks, Turkey strangler!

This is the internet. There are easily obtainable vidoes of women expelling whole fruits from their rectum. This video is not for the "weak of stomach"? For God's sake.

That guy is clearly doing this for his own 15 seconds on tv. I'm sorry, as someone who deals with media and stupid people who just want to be in the background of a thirty second segment, I find this guy more annoying than Palin. And that's saying a LOT.

Did I miss something? You say Steve Buschemi and I'm thinking feathers and blood flying everywhere. Did anyone out there not realize that turkeys are killed for Thanksgiving? Spoiler Alert: One way to kill a turkey is to break its neck.

Oh but I will give you this one, how dumb is this woman to give an interview in front of a guy killing turkeys? And to think, she could've been president. Now that's enough to give me nightmares!

Aww, geez, the Sarah Palin Trainwreck Express is still chugging along. It has now officially destroyed Thanksgiving for me. Thanks for the nightmares, Governor!
