- New details are emerging about the death of IIT student Benjamin Collen. According to the autopsy, Collen "died of asphyxia from inhaling nitrous oxide from a whipped cream container."
- Twenty inmates at Cook County Jail have been charged in a scam that involved them making phone calls impersonating officers and scamming people out of thousands of dollars worth of phone calls.
- Two teens and an older man have been charged in last week's stabbing death of a Hanover Park dollar store employee. Seneca Berry, 15, Dewaun Tate, 17, and Jerry Lockhart, 39, are charged with first degree murder and armed robbery.
- Oprah has filed a response to the defamation lawsuit brought by the ex-headmistress of Winfrey's South Africa school, asking the judge to dismiss the suit.
- Desiree Rogers, president of social networking for Allstate Financial, will apparently be named a special assistant to President-Elect Barack Obama. Rogers would be in charge of social functions at the White House.
