Blago Slams Pace Execs Over Salary Increases

pacebus.jpgAt an appearance downtown yesterday, Governor Blagojevich took the opportunity to criticize Pace over an increase in executive salaries. Why did that get him so worked up? Because a little over a month ago Pace announced a fare hike. And with news swirling around about private jets and corporate junkets while the economy crumbles, Blago hitched a ride on the bandwagon of public sentiment that the increased fare should be going towards maintaining and improving service, not fattening Pace top level compensation.

Blagojevich derisively called Pace officials "bureaucrats" who "sock it to" riders by raising fares.

"Then they give themselves pay raises and hire people they don't need," Blagojevich said.

Blago then went on to blast himself for cutting into Pace revenues by providing free rides for people that don't need them. OK, well of course he didn't, but a girl can dream.

Is Blago still taking a private jet every week to and from Springfield?

And "business" dinners at Arun?

Oh Blago the populist, speaking out against "the man" from the confines of his private plane.
