Morning Box Score
USC Romps Over Irish
It was as ugly a game as you could see on Saturday night as USC held Notre Dame just a field goal and 91 yards of total offense in cruising past the Irish 38-3. It was a completely dominating performance by the Trojans who didn't blink at their own miscues (two interceptions) and just dominated a Notre Dame offense that's struggled to find it's rhythm. Looking for any Notre Dame highlights? Save for a 41-yard Brandon Walker field goal, you won't find any. Now we can await the proverbial flood of "Fire Charlie Weis" screeds from the unhappy campers over in South Bend. At 6-6, the Irish are bowl eligible and could probably pull a decent bowl against a decent opponent. "Could" being the operative word. After the last two weeks of play, though, it'll be hard to take the Irish seriously against a major conference opponent.
Blackhawks Finish Trip With Third Straight Loss
And then they came to the end...of the ridiculously long annual Circus Trip. While the Bulls still have one more stop today in Philadelphia, the Blackhawks were in L.A. for their final game where the Kings rallied past the 'Hawks 5-2. Patricks Sharp and Kane scored a goal each in the first period, putting the 'Hawks up 2-1. Late in the second, the Kings pulled even and then added three more in the third to take the victory. Jonathan Toews expressed frustration afterward, saying, "I don't know what it is. We've just got to find a way to motivate ourselves a little bit better. We had them right where we wanted them, and halfway through the game we let it slip away." Huet got his third straight start in goal, allowing all five goals. The 'Hawks return to the United Center Wednesday to take on Anaheim.
