$29,000 a piece is a pretty good deal if you ask me, but if the Mayor was going to look outside of the city, he should have gone to the dealers in Florida that are offering the buy-1-get-1-free on new cars and trucks!!!

mikely1... They'll probably have to buy 2,000 new telescoping ticketing poles now to make that reach...

Will the cops still be able to ticket cars without having to leave the comfort of their seats as they cruise down my street the wrong way? Or will they actually have to get out of their cars to generate revenue?

To Mayor Daley:
"Just when I thought you couldn't get any dumber, you go and totally redeem yourself!"

Congrats Mayor Daley on officially becoming "The Worst Person in the World!"

Fucking asshat.

Just what you need. A vehicle that will sometimes need to drive FAST and make turns FAST but has a higher rollover risk than current vehicles.

I'd like to point out that the Mayor is doing this at the behest of Weis, who, by my count, has not been right about anything, ever.

I re-iterate: Daley should not be permitted authority over anything not directly attached to his own body.

Let's be honest. This is all about appearances - looking tough. As if the "tactical officers" who ride around in the unmarked Crown Victorias don't come across as big enough goons already...

Chevy stopped making Caprices years back, which is a shame. Crown vics are fine cars, roomy as all get out and ford has a track-record of working with them as police vehicles. There's nothing wrong with them.

A hybrid SUV is pure, unadulterated bullshit.

Compare

4x4 v8 Tahoe: 14/19 city/hwy
4x4 v8 Taho Hybrid: 20/20

And if that thing really gets 20mpg city, I will eat my hat. With a police load out, that things getting 10-12mpg tops.

Compare to the late model caprice 18 MPG city / 26 MPG highway.

I want cops to have decent rides, but these beasts aren't safer, are less efficient, cost more to maintain and are just going to tear up the streets even more.

People are losing their jobs and we're arming our cops to the teeth and giving them fucking tanks. This does not bode well.
