Free Ride from Santa!

2008_12_04_Santacab.jpgNext time you raise your hand to hail a cab, you may be lucky enough to catch a ride from Santa Claus, and for free! Taxi Affiliation Services and its affiliates will sponsor two Santa Taxis this month decorated with holiday trimmings and driven by the ho-ho-hoer himself, and in lieu of your payment, TAS will donate your fare to Children's Memorial Hospital. No word if Santa was involved in the recent strike.

We may have gotten into one of these Santa cabs once. There were twinkle lights circling the interior and lots of holiday paraphenalia stuck to the windows...this was sometime in August though so probably not. If you happen to spot that cab, do not take a "free ride." Heh. [NBC]

Most of the taxis in Mexico are decorated like that, but not just for Christmas. Although my favorite was the driver who had a DVD player on his dashboard and watched X-Men 2 while taking us up a steep mountain road at night.

Fortunately, he also had a Virgin of Guadeloupe with a miniature taxi next to it, so of course we were perfectly safe.

I took this cab once. Santa was smoking a candy cane and spent the whole drive on a cell phone, talking in elvish to Rudolph.

I hope Santa showered this week.
