Yeah, I don't care for Harry Potter (I'm probably one of a handful of people who have never cracked open the books or saw the movies!), and this isn't material for an MSI display IMO - BUT my best friend's kids are totally freaky over Harry Potter. Thanks to this entry, I now have purchased their Christmas gift, and I will be declared Best Aunt Ever. And really, isn't that what Christmas is all about: buying a child's love? :-)

Thanks, Chicagoist!

Actually, MSI could do some awesome stuff with this. The "science" behind magic...potions class = chemistry, etc. The could use this as a way to make science seem more exciting. Not sure if they will, or if they'll just stick with what the exhibition already comes with when they rent it, but it's possible.

Boo, Albany. Why so jaded? The amount of artistic design that has to go into movies like LOTR or Harry Potter is substantial, even with books to work from. Wardrobe, propping and sets, etc. A worthwhile thing to exhibit, and I wouldn't think the 6th HP film needs much promotion anyways.

LOTR would almost make more sense. Peter Jackson broke some real technical ground on those films with WETA modeling and the computer programs they created.

But Harry Potter? Come on.

Valid point, parkour.

I must admit, I visited the Lord of the Rings exhibit in Boston a few years back and really enjoyed it in a weird fanboy sort of way.

Yes, because nothing says education, like promotion for an upcoming film.
