let's take a walk around mr. daley's neighborhood, shall we? 1. don't have money to plow streets. check. 2. cta didn't have money to finish new stations and put adequate heat and shelter in them. check. 3. city's budget is so effed that they just sold us down the river for a quick buck and now our parking meters will be held hostage for *75 YEARS.* check. 4. two tickets and you're booted to denver. check. 5. millenium park didn't quite work out the way he planned private/public partnership wise. check. 6. what's a TIF, mommy? check. 7. our great public education guy just got sucked away. check. (i love ya, barack, but for fuck's sake!) 8. any sort of large crowd turns the downtown area into a huge CF (taste of chicago, venetian night, obama rally, stevie wonder concert, etc., etc.). check. 9. we have a 10.25% sales tax (i think it's 11.25% downtown), but no one seems to know where all our money is going. check. 10. we are saying we need to lay off firemen and police officers in a year where we've seen a ridiculous murder rate ... many among CPS kids. check. oh, and it's not exactly daley's neighborhood, but one word, huge joke: blagojevich. bring on the olympics!!

Thinking about that, that's exactly how I played the simcity video game, bulldozing hospitals and trying to get expensive condos built there instead.
