Honest Abe's Birthday Present: Blago Out

By Prescott Carlson in News on Dec 28, 2008 8:31PM

lincoln.jpgAppearing this morning on CBS' "Face the Nation", Lt. Gov. Pat Quinn said "he believes [Gov.] Blagojevich will be impeached and convicted by the Illinois Legislature" by Abraham Lincoln's 200th birthday on February 12, 2009. We were originally hoping more like the birthday of Baby New Year, but within 6 weeks works for us, too.

Quinn described Blagojevich as "isolated" in his decision-making and surrounded by a "tight palace guard" that "tells him what he wants to hear and not what he needs to know."

"He needs to know he's disgraced himself and he's disgraced the people of Illinois," Quinn said.

Quinn also said he hasn't communicated with Blago in 16 months and that he knows the Illinois State Senate has "far more than the required two-thirds of the state's senators are ready to vote for impeachment." Of course, Quinn would take over as Governor after Blago's departure so he's not exactly the most objective voice on the matter, but we're so ready for this whole mess to be over we don't even care.
