I guess this is a defense strategy. Now Blago can claim that he was NOT selling the seat because he never talked to Burris and didn't participate in any quid pro quo discussion with Burris. Not that he would have ever appointed Burris had the feds not pounced but still he can pretend to be above board now. That said, Burris seems like a pretty good choice for Senator. He is the first African American elected to state wide office and has remained busy since leaving public office.
