So the Illinois GOP paid Blago the most then? Because seriously, I can't think of any other group that benefits more from this. No matter what this guy has done or will do it can never been seen as truly legitimate. At least Bobby Rush is happy. While our new prez and most of the country are looking past race, there he is shouting "he needs to be black, he needs to be black!" Wrong. He or she needs to be the most qualified, which is also something his congressional district has been lacking since he took office.

Oh my...Jesus. Does someone go out weekly and chisel in a new line? When he dies, does his whole staff have to be buried with him after committing ritual suicide? As for Blago, look, he's clearly gone insane. When he was chuckling about "The limelight" and dragging Bobby Rush's cancer on stage to hold up the race card...really, was anyone else expecting men with butterfly nets and straight jackets to come rushing in? The press was on their game though. I want to see that kind of pressing on EVERY politician, not the just mad and disgraced ones. Just a note, Bobby Rush beat Obama for his congressional seat years back. That adds some nice flavor to this dirt sandwich.

As I've always said, everyone in Illinois politics owes everyone else. Blago probably felt now was a good time to pay off his debt to Burris, get him a few months of senator cash in return for whatever the old school Burris did for him months ago. For all of his blandness, Burris is pretty well liked in the state senate so the changes of them negating this move might be slim. They may just say, fuck it, it's only a year and a few months. People who wanted a black senate appointee get their man (sort of), and everyone can get busy on the next election. At least that's the way I see it.

I don't know anything about this Burris guy, but I have an intense dislike and mistrust of him purely because of the fact that he would so wholeheartedly accept a position from a corrupt governor who is in the process of being impeached. Doesn't say too much about his character.
