Please... Rush is being an idiot on this one (big shock). At least Danny Davis had the good sense to turn the appointment down. The fact that he took an appointment from a scandal tainted gov. says a lot about Burris's ego and character to me--and has nothing to do with his race.

The guy seems like a real dick to me. Any claims about doing this for the people of Illinois ring false with all the personal grandstanding the guy has done. Let's also not forget that this is a man who was responsible for the Rolando Cruz debacle--even in the face of DNA evidence of his innocence, Burris fought to keep him on death row. I *really* hope they impeach Blago fast, and get Quinn in so he can remove Burris and appoint *anyone* other than this embarrassment.

Albany....his press conference wasn't exactly on the steps but at least they didn't put him behind the porta-johns being readied for the innaugaration. That would have been a photo!

I'm just happy that, thanks to the Rod and Rollo Show, Illinois has been able to so quickly undo every last bit of the respect, prestige, and credibility that we briefly obtained upon Obama's election. All that pressure to behave like an adult was just too damned stressful.

You know, I haven't cared much for Jesse White until this mess popped up. He, Danny Davis, and Lisa Madigan with her admittedly silly attempt at having Blagojevich declared incapacitated have been the only politicians so far to have done anything but roll over. Based on this alone, I could go with Pat Quinn eventually appointing White senator.

Look, Burris has said time and again that he doesn't want a confrontation. Which is why he showed up with a posse and held a press conference on the steps of the Capitol. Jesse White for Senator. That is all.
