Friday Buffet
It may be cold outside but don't let that stop you from wandering out a bit to get a hot meal. We're especially excited about the Aztec adventure noted below. Branch out and try some worms and grasshoppers, would ya?
- January 9 - 11: Go see Bride Wars in style at Muvico's Rosemont location and enjoy some food at Bogart's Bar and Grill. There's a wedding themed menu and if you wear an old bride's maid's dress (or donate one - or any other formal dress!) you'll be entered to win a variety or prizes. The dresses (and accessories if you donate them) will go to the Glass Slipper Project, an organization that provides them free of cost to Chicago high school students who are unable to purchase their own Prom attire.
- January 11 - 17: Don't miss The Taste of the Aztec World. 16 Chicago restaurants teamed up with The Field Museum to bring some ancient Aztec inspired dishes back to the table. Check out the website to see what is offered and where and don't miss our own Anthony Todd's review of some of the food. (He liked the grasshopper guacamole!)
- January 12 - 18: Carnivale's tour of Spain continues this week with a journey through Madrid and the central Castilla de la Mancha region of Spain featuring a menu that highlights the Stews, Manchego cheese, garlic, chorizo, and Ribera del Duero wines for which the region is known.
- January 14: City Provisions Supper Club will be having its first Supper Club of 2009. Death's Door Spirits, Michelle Garcia sweets (from Bleeding Heart Bakery / Chaos Theory ) and good eats. Call to RSVP: 773-293-2489. 7 p.m. 1820 W Wilson. $60.
- Tuesdays and Wednesdays: American Idol is starting. Why watch at home? You can watch on a 42 inch plasma at Chen's Chinese and Sushi. 1/2 price wine on Tuesday and 1/2 price margaritas on Wednesday because while drinking may impair your singing, it will only make some of these people sound better. 3506 N Clark.
- Month of January: It's National Soup Month. KDK wants you to join them at their restaurants for a bowl of goodness. Marche is offering a French onion (which is oh, so delicious) and a daily soup preparation. Opera for lunch will offer a duck wonton soup and will serve up a Sichuan Hot & Sour Soup at dinner. Red Light will have Chao Poh Taek (Thai Chili Spiked Coconut Broth, Prawns, Sea Scallops, Mussels) and a shrimp wonton soup at lunch and Dtom Khaa Gai (Coconut Broth, Chicken, Galangal, Straw Mushroom) and Yosenabe Fisherman's stew (Manilla Clams, Mussels, Prawns, Sea Scallops, Bamboo, Japanese Eggplant, Miso-Lobster Chili Broth) for dinner.
