Oof, he is a bit overpaid and not as Young as I thought. I would still take 82 RBI's out of my SS anyday. I guess I had a more favorable opinion of him due to his fantasy numbers, which in retrospect aren't as crazy as I remembered - 12 HR, 82 RBI, 102 RUNS, 10 SB, .284 AVG last year.

Young is 32, and has 5 years left on his contract (to a tune of $60 million)! no way in hell. besides, Young is easily one of the most overrated players in the AL - and he easily has the most lopsided contract.

Why would trading for a 31 year old shortstop be a good idea? Also what "speed" does Michael Young have? He is one of the most consistently overrated shortstops in baseball, since he's had a good batting average.

The White Sox currently have one of the best shortstop prospects in the minor leagues in Gordon Beckham, who they project to be ready for the bigs possibly in 2010 (and maybe even late 2009 if he keeps progressing).

Trading for Young would do the Sox little to no good, since moving Alexei to short is almost a must at this point with the recent signings of Viciedo, Lillebridge, and Nix, not to mention Chris Getz waiting in the wings as second baseman of the future.

Additionally, with a serious lack of good minor league pitching prospects, trading Aaron Poreda would also be pretty silly at this point.

I'm not necessarily against the trading of Dye, since he's getting up there in age, but trading and old guy for and old guy just seems like a waste, especially considering Dye>>>>Young.

Speaking as a Cubs fan, this would be a great trade for the Sox. Outfielders who can hit are far easier to replace than shortstops who can hit. I'd be jealous if they pull this off.
