Tribune running out of Obama material

By Samantha Abernethy in News on Jan 18, 2009 11:10PM

2009_01_18_sam.jpg The Tribune's Sunday paper featured yet another picture of Barack Obama on the front page and included yet another "Inauguration 2009" special section. It seems the Tribune's only plan for selling more newspapers has been to put our photogenic first family on the front page. And that's really not a bad strategy, except that they seem to be running out of things to talk about.

The inaugural section today includes a handy map of DC--although many of those who need that are probably not in Chicago to pick up a paper this morning--and more speculation on what Michelle Obama might wear. It's obvious that they just can't come up with enough new Obama material, which must be why they Tribune wants you to create your own inaugural speech by plugging words into their Madlib. Here's an excerpt from one we created by inserting two adjectives and a name.

Finally, I must thank my shaggy family, my ragged campaign volunteers, but most of all, I want to thank Rod Blagojevich for making this historic occasion possible.

If you come up with a good one, throw a quote in the comments below!
