Yes! Don't vote for R. Daley (or city council members or any other elected official with whose positions you disagree) in the next election. It's not "real time", but it's an option.

I think the CEO of public schools position was created specifically for non-educators...that was the intention.

I would like to see Huberman stay on at the CTA, though.

Isn't Daley going to lease the school to a private corporation?

But seriously, take away all of the bells and whistles of the CTA that have been implemented under Huberman (Bus Tracker, GPS, fancy new website, etc.), is the primary function of the CTA - to provide transportation service - better, worse or remained the same during Huberman's tenure? To be honest, I personaly have seen little improvement under Huberman. It's not horrible, but it's not better than any other time in my life here (which is pretty long). Granted i don't ride every bus line and every train line, but I don't see any fantastic improvement in the basic function of the CTA that warrents a move to CPS. It just does what it does, some days better than others. Or maybe that's the point...

Huberman is a glorified 6-Sigma consultant. He hasn't finished any of the jobs he's started anywhere Daley has put him. He sorta implemented an incredibly painful performance management system for all city departments, and what where those CTA goals again?

Technically you should be able to complain to your alderman to have your opinion represented in the City Council approval process, but I think we know how that goes.

It's a GOOD thing that someone not connected to the public school establishment is hired for this job....

Great. I am going to wake up one morning and there will be three schools bunched together on my block.

It shouldn't surprise anyone - he had no mass transportation experience and was put in charge of the CTA.

My only question is - what has he done so well at the CTA that can be applied at the CPS, or, what has he done so poorly that getting rid of him from the CTA and putting him anywhere else is an option?

can we oppose this in any way? this is so stupid!!! why not have some continuity at the CTA *and* get someone who might have a chance at knowing what to do in re: education?

I like how Darth Daley has given up hiring educators to run CPS. I guess when the point is to shut down schools who needs an educator.
