"Taste" The Grant Achatz Film

achatz.jpg Our friends over at menupages reported (via this Salon interview) what we think could be the most exciting culinary news of the new year: a film about the life of Grant Achatz, directed by R.J. Cutler. Cutler states:
"His book is the No. 1 cookbook in America right now. But his personal story is really what's extraordinary. He's considered by many to be one of the greatest chefs in the world, and he's had tongue cancer, and in battling the cancer, he lost the use of his taste buds on his tongue."

In another interview with indieWIRE, Cutler gives a few more insights into the film.

It’s a remarkable story about one of the world’s greatest chefs who was, at the height of his accomplishments, diagnosed with tongue cancer. The film is called “Taste.”

We want to know more. Will it be a documentary? Will it be a biopic? If the latter, will it star Ethan Hawke or Chad Lowe? Least likely to play him? We say Will Smith, Gene Hackman, and that guy from Zapped!. [Ed's Note: We assume Jacy means Scott Baio. - M.G.]
