Good question - I've seen it at some smaller, less expensive grocery stores. I bought mine at Whole Foods for about $2/lb.

Thanks for these winter soup ideas. I'm still eating the left overs from a massive pot of broccoli-potato soup inspired by the one seen here. Do you have to go to a high end grocery to get celery root, or is it widely available?

I make a soup similar to this sans bacon, but with a hearty splash of apple cider vinegar to liven up the flavors.
