Do This: "Soup-Off" at Custom House

Hosting ad-hoc soup kitchens have been all the rage this winter. From 1-4 p.m. Sunday at Custom House (500 S. Dearborn, 312-523-0020) the big boys get in on the act.

Custom House's "Soup-Off" will pit local chefs against each other in a "Top Chef" style competition to see who makes the best soup, judged by a panel including ABC7's Steve Dolinsky. Guest chefs include Carie Nahabedian, Dean Zanella, Giuseppe Tentori and Bill Kim, whose kim chi and rice cake stew at the Hot Chocolate anniversary dinner the other night floored us. Proceeds from the $15 per person event will benefit the Greater Chicago Food Depository. Tickets are available at the door.
