Stand Up for Equality

Chicagoland chapters of Parents, Family & Friends of Lesbians and Gays will be hosting a comedy fundraiser tomorrow, “Stand Up For Equality.” Headliner Vickie Shaw, opening act Mike Neubecker, and host Miss Foozie promise an afternoon of laughs at the Comedy Improv at Woodfield Mall in Schaumburg. Tickets are still available on-line for the event which starts at 12 noon tomorrow.

Shaw looks like the woman next door, but once she opens her mouth, you’ll know she was born and raised in Texas. After 18-years of marriage and three kids, something was missing. She started doing stand-up comedy and came out as a lesbian at the same time. She recalls, “I would’ve come out as a stand-up, but it would have killed my parents.”
