Peterson's Stepbrother Finally Speaks

By Marcus Gilmer in News on Mar 10, 2009 3:40PM

Thomas Morphey, step-brother of Drew Peterson, has finally gone public with his account of the events of October 28, 2007 in which he believes he helped Peterson dispose of the body of missing wife Stacy. Morphey was so troubled by what he did, he attempted suicide by overdosing on anti-anxiety and anti-depression pills; he survived. Now he's talked with the Herald News about his experience that October and why he believes Drew killed Stacy.

“We went to that park to discuss Stacy cheating on him, and he had to take care of the problem,” Morphey said.

He assumed Peterson planned to murder someone but that his target was Stacy’s supposed boyfriend.

“I didn’t think for a minute he was going to try to kill her,” he said. Then Peterson started asking strange questions.

“How much do you love me?” Morphey said Peterson asked him, and Morphey answered that he did love him, a lot.

Peterson then asked, “Enough to kill for me?” “No, I couldn’t live with myself,” Morphey said.

Peterson pressed on, asking, “Could you live with knowing about it?”

Morphey replied, “Yeah, I guess. We always figured you killed Kathleen.”

Both Peterson and his attorney, Joel Brodsky, have previously dismissed Morphey's account; said Brodsky in November, 2007, "I don't know what world Thomas Morphey is living in, our world, his world or if he's veering back and forth between the real world and whatever fantasy world he's living in."
