Attack Claims Three Illinois Soldiers In Afghanistan

A roadside bomb attack in Afghanistan claimed the lives of three Illinois National Guardsmen this weekend. Spc. Norman Cain III, 22, of Mount Morris, Sgt. Christopher Abeyta, 23, of Midlothian and Spc. Robert Weinger, 24, of Round Lake Beach all died as a result of the blast near Kot, Afghanistan. Another solider from Arizona also died. All three were members of the 33rd Infantry Brigade Combat Team and it now brings the number of Illinois National Guard casualties in Iraq and Afghanistan to 27. [Sun-Times]
