Yum shark fin soup! It tastes great, is readily available, and is a way to show Hong Kong people my wealth and prestige!

Or it has to do with the reality that most families don't have the time, space, or resources to grown/raise all the food they eat.

I kind of agree with teh commenters here. Shark is a top predator and is best not to consume for ecological reasons. Same reason I don't eat Tiger.

Go screw

Clark

Sudo's got a picture of a cooked shark up with a recipe and a place to purchase more sharks. Its like the tobacco industry warning people not to smoke while actually selling more cigs. I guess The welfaremind and Chuck were in the same army platoon, the Welfaremind was the mean savage bully killer and Chuck was the nice killer. By the way, Clark, you got any pink babies? I think pink babies go good on spiked pike. Just pink babies though, See I'm better informed. So I know that their parents tend to be more far more selfish and barbaric

That does sound good clark9201. I eat a vegetarian diet and even I would eat a fish I caught myself. Please tell me you gutted it yourself. Gutting a fish is the best part of catching it.

@Spook, vultureProtein, dopplerd

Wow, you're really all dishing it out to poor Chuck aren't you? It seems to me like he did a good thing here. He had the presence of mind to question why the shark he ate was so hard to find; then he found the answer and passed it along to all of us so we'd be better informed. Thanks Chuck!

@vultureProtein

Your comment about not wanting to eat what we ourselves catch/kill reminded me of one of the best meals I ever ate. It was a gorgeous lake trout that I caught while ice fishing in the Boundary Waters. I named her Barb and she won me a contest for the biggest fish caught that weekend. She was delicious!

The food chain means you have to sit in a boat to not get eaten when you go fishing on one of your weekend warrior missions.

Your "species" is beyond retarded - it's oblivious!

Sorry but the food chain means I can sit in a boat and use a fishing rod, because my species isn't fucking retarded and doesn't need to swim 24/7 to keep breathing.

Shedd Aquarium has a handy guide to sustainable seafood (pdf). Shark is listed on the AVOID list and has high levels of mercury. Maybe Sudo will meet Jeremy Piven at the mercury poisoning clinic.

Let's all start thinking about what we eat (before we eat it) or you will only be telling your grandkids stories about the extinct shark species that you used to eat. The way things are going we really need to work to improve things for our children instead of giving them a polluted and sterile pile of debt and McMansions.

Glad you guys give a fuck. But guess what, there's a food chain.

When sharks start walking, flying to the moon, and brokering peace deals then I'll give a shit. Other than that, thanks for the heads up. Sounds delicious!

When I watch a video of a shark attacking a human, I root for the shark.

When I read a story about people eating shark, I think they should try catching the shark themselves.

Most people wouldn't eat what they do if they had to catch it and kill it themselves, it has to do with the ultimate reality of being connected to what you eat.

This article yet again demonstrates how Americans prefer to be disconnected from what they eat.

The shark isn't always dead when they toss it back in - but without its dorsal fin, it can't swim and slowly sinks/drowns (no water through the gills).

This is why I say let an alligator, tiger, chimp, Shark, crocodile, anaconda, pack of spotted Hyenas,honey fire aints, angry wasps etc, etc, drag off and s-l-o-w-l-y eat a little pink American Baby on Board, as we sure don't mind killing off endangered species like we do sharks in the overfished seas.

Hope you enjoyed your shark Sudo, next time be sure to try some Japanes shark fin soap. Its kinda expensive cause they cut the fin off and toss the dead shark back into the sea.
