The Slow Zone Exists and it's Chicagoan

Remember yesterday when we mentioned what great progress the CTA was making in terms of slow zone elimination? Well, a report today says that the spin put on those numbers isn't all that positive as slows zones have actually increased over the last three months. The worst line for slow zones? The Purple Line, which has slow zones along nearly a fourth of the line. Slow zones on the Congress branch of the Blue Line have almost tripled this year, from 5 percent to 13 percent, thanks to ballast erosion. [Tribune]
