You might say Al Gore is compensating for something. A former Vice President, Nobel Peace prize winner, Academy Award winner, New York Times bestseller, Chairman of Emmy award winning independent TV network Current TV, inventor of the Internet and expert kisser, he can also add a recent book deal and Chicago Theatre speaking engagement to his long list of accolades.
First, the book deal: Our Choice picks up where An Inconvenient Truth leaves off by focusing on "real solutions to global warming." Make no mistake, Gore is serious about solving the climate crisis--he's donating all proceeds to the nonprofit Alliance for Climate Protection and the book will be printed on locally produced 100% recycled paper with carbon neutral inks. One can only guess former President George Bush's upcoming book will be printed in China on the skins of baby seals.
So where, might you ask, can you hear the enlightened words of author, policymaker, filmmaker, activist and future candidate for sainthood? Look no further than the 2009 Speaker Series: Live & Uncensored at the Chicago Theatre. No fooling, Vice President Al Gore will spit the truth about global warming on April 1rst. Gear up by switching off your lights for Earth Hour at 8:30 p.m. Saturday March 28th.
Speaker Series 2009: Al Gore, Wednesday April 1, at the Chicago Theatre, 175 N State St, Chicago, IL, $45-$185. Enter code GOGREEN to receive $10 off tickets.

Weekend Diversion: Night Of The Ponies

Every time this snake oil salesmen opens his mouth, he should be prosecuted for ecocide given the carbon footprint of all the hot-CO2 he releases.
Al Gore did not win an Academy Award, although he did star in an Academy Award-winning film. Producer Davis Guggenheim was the winner for "An Inconvenient Truth."
So let me guess, he's taking his private jet tour to promote the book, which he wrote at his 20,000 SF energy hogging house, all the time calling for you and me to change our energy habits?
C'mon folks, wake up and smell the coffee (or the exhaust, as the case may be)!! The guy's a limousine liberal, who has no intention of doing what he espouses you and I do.
So what?
Doesn't mean global warming isn't happening.
Congrats to you, though: You showed that a politician is a hypocrite. Wow.
His message is valid, his science solid. How about we focus on the problem instead of killing the messenger? What have you done this week to help the planet?
