Thanks for helping! My shoes were soaked well before the race started. I was very envious of the few smarter than I who had enveloped their feet with plastic bags.

I cannot endorse the Soldier Field 10 enough. Great weather and you run along the lake path south of the stadium so in the final stretch of the race, you get that absolutely SPECTACULAR view of the city. If it doesn't take your breath away, it'll inspire you to sprint home.

All of the people who looked out their window and didn't immediately go back to bed are better than I can hope to be.

Is this the same Deena Kastor that won the Olympic Bronze medal and is the US record holder for women in the marathon?

Thank YOU for volunteering. I ran it, and wished that I could thank every one of the volunteers standing in ankle-deep slush, doling out gatorade and cheering us on. Once you're running, you get pretty warm. Standing in one spot in that stuff is truly badass.

Waiting in the corrals did definitely suck, though... Everyone in the open corral started the race with numb toes.

Ah, springtime in Chicago!

Hats off to whoever ran this, I was volunteering down there in the morning and it was bloody miserable standing around in waterproof shoes. I can't imagine standing on the corals waiting in running shoes.
