Toronto electronic outfit MSTRKRFT hits Chicago Thursday night for their installment of Myspace's Secret Show series. Previously gracing Double Door, Smartbar and Vision on their Chicago tour stops, fans can expect a very different live experience as the funky electronic maestros turn Bridgeport arts complex Co-Prosperity Sphere into sweaty mayhem.
We've had Fist of God, MSTRKRFT's hard-hitting, highly danceable new release on repeat and definitely won't be missing this rare opportunity to bypass the neon lights of the clubs and relive the glory days of packed Chicago loft parties.

Not so secret anymore!
Simply out of curiousity, how is that pronounced?
"I'm going to go see MSTRKRFT tonight".
"Em-Ess-Tee-Are-Kay-Are-Eff-Tee" as in KMFDM or just sort of like "Mister Kraft"?
Pronounced "Master-Kraft".
I know what you mean, when I first heard of them some time ago, I constantly misread their name as the Mystery Science Theater 3000 acronym "MST3K".

It took me a full five minutes to figure out what that said.
Can anyone tell me how this "secret show" works? Is there a pre-show RSVP list or is it 1st come 1st in?
The doors open at 8pm and it's first come first serve, so I'd recommend heading there early.
Co-Prosperity Sphere is a fairly large space though from what I remember of the last time I was there.
CHICAOGIST, You are not an underground publication. You cannot publish stuff like this. I sat by when you ousted presale info for shows like lenard cohen, but you can not publish "Secret" shows. It's secret for a reason. You're overstepping your bounds and i'm really sick of it.
Now i wont be able to get in because some people that cant even spell the guys name want to check out what the cool kids are up to.
Stop it now.
Calm down, wipe away the tears. You're still their number one fan.
BTW, it's "Leonard" Cohen.
Dude, we can publish stuff like this when both the band's publicist and MySpace's publicist send us these things called "press releases" and ask us if we'll mention the show in a post.
Oh wait, Marcus already replied to you below.
I will state, for the record, that our A&E writers ALWAYS honor embargoes.
MSTRKRFT: When Daft Punk takes a shit, it creates a mediocre form of itself called MSTRKRFT. The MSTRKRFT then begins work on it's own album complete with electronic music cliches. It's true.
I went to youtube and tried to find a good track by them, but couldn't find one. They do have a skill for rip off artistry however.
I'm less concerned with this show and more so with the trend that the Chicagoist likes to report privileged information. Events that are first come first serve like this one or Bird @ the Hideout are better left to the people in the know. Publishing to the masses so every Chad and Trixie in town can show up really ruins a good time.
-also sorry about the spelling, I’ve turned spell check back on.
Windycitypete - This is not privileged information. Any "Chad and Trixie" who has a MySpace account can find out that MSTRKRFT is in Chicago on Thursday.

Even if this was a "secret" show, Chicagoist still has the right to announce it. How would the band feel if no one showed up at all? At least this way, they are ensured a good turnout.
windycitypete - In regards to your claim, we've never published information that wasn't already available to the public at large. The Leonard Cohen presales info was available to anyone on any number of a dozen email lists or at other blogs, websites, and message boards. The Andrew Bird shows at The Hideout were listed on his website. And as pointed out above, this show was on the band's MySpace page. And MySpace "secret" shows are as secret as U2's appearance at the Metro a few weeks ago - the PR has the subtlety of a CTA bus driving through your living room. And if we didn't write about it? Someone else would. Gapers, Time Out, Kot, DeRo, etc. Somehow the word would get out. That is, after all, the point.
You know, I'm tempted to go to this show just to piss this guy off. I'll be the one in the Dave Matthews Band concert T.
Yeah....Bridgeport, especially South Morgan, is having a hard time lately with the steady influx of Chads and Trixies. They've really hit it off with the Kings these days and the new J Crew opening up next to Made in Chicago is only encouraging them.
