This is actually a breakfast favorite in our house - whole wheat or sourdough toast, natural peanut butter (crunchy, with salt) & Bonne Maman or similar raspberry jam.

I prefer the same recipe but double decker style. One regular sandwich just doesn't seem to do the trick for me!

I too, favor chunky PB, but only if the bread is toasted so it can be a little firm, that way I'm not flattening the bread by trying to smear the PB. Strawberry preserves for me too.

With the kind of strict, vegetable-heavy diet I maintain these days, you could serve this to me as a dessert.

I like my white bread toasted with a good slathering of honey roasted pb on both pieces of bread and a nice layer of preserves in the middle.

One of my favorite variations is PB on 7 grain bread with thinly sliced bananas.
And honey drizzled on the bananas is a nice addition as well.
I also like PB&J on saltines for a classy appetizer.

Cute and April Foolsy, but man, I eat PB&J almost every day and I gotta say, not all jams are created equal. My favorite is St. Dalfour Strawberry, and Whole Foods peanut butter, with no sugar or anything added. The perfect peanut butter and jelly sandwich is no joke, my friend.

while i, too, enjoy the pb&j, i'm beginning to wonder how many of the posts today are the usual chicagoist posts and how many are april fools.

Oh, -- fresh 100 percent whole wheat bread, Natural peanutbutter (just peanuts, no salt or anything) must be creamy. Strawberry preserves.

I was going to make fun of this as ironic, hipster, retro chic stuff... but dammit my stomach is grumbling looking at that. I stand corrected and apologize. Good call. PB and J is the SHIT (figuratively speaking, of course).

Welch's and Chunky Skippy, please. And get that milk rolling...

one of three meals i eat on a very consistent basis. the other two being frozen pizza and pasta with red sauce. i'm sophisticated. however, regarding the american classic PB&J, crust is NOT optional. and i toast.

If I didn't know any better, I'd swear that plate was stolen from my kitchen.

I still say Goober Grape is the proverbial shit.
