Bears fans, you have a new quarterback. This afternoon the Denver Broncos confirmed that they've traded embattled and bitter quarterback Jay Cutler to the Chicago Bears, according to ESPN.
The Sun-Times is reporting the Bears gave up their No. 1 and No. 3 pick in the 2009 draft, their No. 1 2010 draft pick, as well as Capt. Neck Beard himself, Kyle Orton.
Cutler demanded a trade and stopped talking to the Broncos when he found out that new Denver coach Josh McDaniels tried to trade for then-Patriot (and now-Chief) QB Matt Cassel. Bitter cry baby? Misunderstood young star? Either way, he's the starter. Benjy will break it down for us tomorrow morning.

Wow, was I ever wrong. Unbelievable.
The Sun-Times is reporting the Bears gave up their No. 1 and No. 3 pick in the 2009 draft, their No. 1 2010 draft pick, as well as Capt. Neck Beard himself, Kyle Orton.
Incorrect. The Bears are not giving up their third-round pick in '09.
Again, I'm citing the S-T here. There report still says:
"The Bears acquired quarterback Jay Cutler today for first-round draft picks in 2009 and 2010, a third-round pick this year and Kyle Orton."
ESPN is also reporting the same thing:
"To acquire Cutler, the Bears had to give up quarterback Kyle Orton and first-round picks in 2009 and 2010, along with a third-round pick in 2009. "
Granted, conflicting details are leaking as the minutes tick by, so we'll have to wait and see, but if that details incorrect, than so are the Sun-Times and ESPN.
I followed your ESPN link and it said no third round pick. Now I follow it and says yes to the third round pick. My bad.
I kept saying this was going to happen, but all the pundits were screaming that it was a done deal with the Redskins.
Currently (well, historically too), Chicago has to have the worst QB situation in the NFL. All the other teams may not have ideal situations, but Chicago has suffered through 3 years without a steady starting quarterback. Big name quarterbacks don't often find themselves up for trade.
I for one welcome Cutler, unfortunately there are other positions that need to be filled on the roster.
It's almost become Sports Journalism 101 to include the Redskins in any big free agent or trade situation, whether there's some truth to it or not.
Alright, fantastic. We have a decent quarterback. Just one question: Who is he going to throw the ball to?
EXACTLY, that's what i never understood. so many people say that if we had Kurt Warner we would have won the Super Bowl. no we wouldn't have, he would have no one to throw the ball too (well Berrian back then). but now, we have no #2 WR, let alone a #1. Still, he is the best QB Chicago has had in the last 20 years...and he's young, although we did give up a lot for him.
Who will he throw to? Probably the Packers. Its hard to be a Bear fan...
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO. [/caps]
This makes me so sad for Kyle! And no I can't root for him because the Broncos are villainous. This is a sad day for hard-drinking everyman-type-people.
Also, Bears fans now should begin their betting pool for Cutlerf*ucker's first public hissyfit will occur. My bet is for when the Bears get to 2-6 in the 2009 season. [sigh]
cutler sounds like a real jerk. he's gonna cry when he realizes he's over-rated and everyone in chicago is gonna cry when they realize that too.
i'm not even a bears fan and i think this deal stinks for chicago.
The only thing that makes me sad about this trade is the loss of the third round pick. The first round picks were going to be wastes or traded away for 6 twelfth round picks...

mark my words.
not even close. Nice try though
You folks are crazy. This was a great move for the Bears.
Someone is a crybaby for not liking being lied to? You must all date some sick people.
he's been a cry-baby his whole career, not just in the last 2 weeks. plus he has no respect from his teammates in Denver. the quote last night form Urlacher was pretty funny, he didn't seem too happy about the deal.
After some reflection, I think that Cutler in Chicago won't amount to a hill of beans if a) the defense continues to stay in the bottom half of the league and b) Ron Turner doesn't open up the offense.
Hester has the ability to get behind defenses. Cutler has a strong and accurate arm along with enough mobility to extend the play. Put those two things together, and on a Bears team that means
Pounding the ball up the middle every play just like it always has.
Wow, a knowledgeable football comment. Thank god.
The defenses shouldn't stack the box so much against us now, because they're going to have to respect Cutler's arm. This is going to open up the run game.
In regards to Hester - instead of him having to slow down to catch an under thrown pass, he's going to be able to let Cutler overthrow it so that he can turn on the engines and catch up to it. This might facilitate a breakout season for him.
If the bears sign Terry Holt, it would be golden.
It's nice to see that Chicago still hates their quarterback.
If cutler is a crybaby, that should be something bears fans can relate to, because a major faction of you seem to insist on behaving this way.
Please, don't post your raves when The Bears start kicking ass again. You fair weather fans should stay bitchy. Don't change a thing.
no, its not being bitchy, it called looking at deals from all angles.
