You are correct ricky.

In fact, it was the story of the Big East Tournament that DePaul won their first round game.

Not only did DePaul make the Big East tournament, but they won their first game. Get your sources straight.

I grew up a DePaul fan, went to dozens of DePaul games at Rosemont/Allstate but now I don't care. The arena is awful, it's too far from the city, the program stinks, and the Big East conference is far too strong for DePaul to compete for a top spot.
An mid-sized arena in the city would bring tons of interest back to the Demons! I hope it happens, they need it. DePaul's AD can't expect a casual fan to drive to Rosemont, pay $10 - $15 for parking, and actually enjoy seeing the Blue Demons getting destroyed on the court.

And to reclaim the feel of Alumni, you have to build a cavernous arena like the old Stadium was, where it goes more straight up than out.

When I went to DePaul there was talk of using land in the Cabrini Green area to build an arena for the team. While that's not as close as Alumni Hall was, it's way better than Allstate. The city, which is full of DePaul grads from the mayor on down, was going to sell the school the property at $1 per acre so they could build their complex. I'm not sure what's happening with the land in that area now though. I know that the YMCA was razed for a shopping center but there still seems to be plenty of open space that could be used for a modest-sized arena, and parking, once the abandoned buildings come down. Think of what even a small venue could do not just for the program but for that neighborhood.
