There's been much debate among our editors as to whether this is an event to be celebrated or mocked, but those options aren't mutually exclusive. Hell, some of us remember our mothers dropping us off at the amphitheater parking lot in eighth grade, unwittingly exposing us for the first time to conspicuous drug use, dancing in spinning circles, and patchouli oil. Dave Matthews and LeRoi Moore came out to play "Three Little Birds" for the encore, which seemed way cooler at the time than it does in retrospect. But Phish, man...they jammmmmed!
Now we're much older - my God, how old does that make the members of the band? - and we get to wax nostalgic and spend another beautiful summer evening in a crowd of bearded men. Don't hesitate, just buy your ticket - you don't know how many reunion tours they'll do.
Phish plays Toyota Park on August 11, 7000 S. Harlem, Bridgeview, all tickets are $49.50 and available online, at Ticketmaster outlets, or by phone at (312) 559-1212, (800) 745-3000, and (866) 448-7849

Can anyone spot me a ride to the String Cheese show in Morgantown, WV afterwards?
Don't be a hater, Phish = the kind!
$50 ticket prices don't seem too high compared to other acts playing similarly sized venues.
And considering their history that focused on live performance and countless tours, your comment re: "how many reunion tours" seems really off base.
I guarantee this is only the first of many many many "reunion" tours, so what's your point?
There will be a fall tour this year, and a series of shows around New Years Eve. And then next summer there will a whole other tour.
In fact, there have now been 3 sets of shows or tours announced by the band since confirming their return. The Hampton shows in March, the June early summer tour, and the August late summer tour - which the Toyota Park show is a part of.
At least Pitchfork is clever and well informed. Nice try though, you're almost as snarky.
