I say good riddance. About half the time I try to buy a copy of the magazines, those two bit hustlers give me a line about it being their last copy. News flash, buddy. I don't care if it's your last copy or not, you're still asking for a handout.

Streetwise is a good thing - it helps homeless to recognize the value of exchange and commerce rather than charity. Giving money outright to the homeless doesn't help them, it enables and reinforces the habit of asking for money. You are HURTING them by giving them change when they ask. While streetwise isn't too far from pure charity it does at least provide a semblance of a job, and that is far more psychologically sound than just giving them change and reinforcing the habit of panhandling. So yes, this publication going under is a bad thing, and sad.

That is a shame. One of the few little things that you can do to actually help a homeless person is to buy a copy of Streetwise.
