The Thrive Allergy Expo will take place this weekend at McCormick Place, featuring speakers, events and activities geared toward individuals with allergies and celiac disease.

Free asthma screening will be available, and Rock'O, a peanut sniffing dog (and Portuguese Water Dog) will be there, too. Exhibitors and speakers include a number of allergy associations, like the University of Chicago Celiac Disease Center, Asthma and Allergy Foundation of America and the Inflammatory Skin Disease Institute. Borders will also be there with a wide selection of allergy-related books and cookbooks. There will also be food vendors and cooking demonstrations, many of which are targeted to those limited to a gluten free diet.

The Thrive Allergy Expo, April 18-19, 9:30 a.m. - 5:00 p.m., $10 for one-day pass, $15 for a two-day pass, McCormick Place, 2301 S. Lake Shore Drive. Kids under 12 admitted for free. You can purchase tickets by called (866) 617-EXPO or by going to the Thrive Allergy Expo website.
