First Look: LaSalle Power Co.

We broke out our hair gel and leather for the grand opening party of Chicago's newest rock venue, River North's LaSalle Power Co (500 N. LaSalle). Along the lines of Angels & Kings, AMP Rock Lounge and perhaps Debonair, the LPC is a three-level behemoth of Sunset Strip-style overindulgence. No too surprising, considering that its owners are the same team that's behind English and Grand Central, among others. Despite posters for bands like Spoon and the Pixies on the walls, this place seems more suited to the rock DJ/cover band set, though we did enjoy some killer city views from the upper level and some tasty cocktails. Still, we're pretty sure we weren't cool enough to stay all night.
