For the first time since 1996, the Blackhawks have won a postseason series, and will now be moving on to the second round of the NHL playoffs. They did so by beating the Calgary Flames on Monday 4-1 at the Pengrowth Saddledome, winning the series 4-2.

Patrick Kane opened the scoring for Chicago on a power play goal, to which Adam Burish added a score in the first period. The Blackhawks extended the lead to 3-0 on a Brian Campbell goal in the second. The Flames' Todd Bertuzzi found the net less than a minute into the third period, but that was their lone goal. A Dustin Byfuglien empty netter in the game's final minute capped the scoring. In goal for the 'Hawks, Nikolai Khabibulin lived up to his "Bulin Wall" nickname by saving 43 of 44 shots against him.

Up next for the 'Hawks are the Vancouver Canucks, who are well rested after their opening round sweep of St. Louis. When the puck drops on their Western Conference semifinals series is yet to be determined.
