I could go on for hours about how much I hate The Arie Crown, but since I'm only forced to go to a show there once every ten years or so I'll keep my mouth shut.

Sorry to hear your crowd was so sedate though! Maybe Mo Ryan should have gone on your night?

I gotta say, I LOOOVVEE the Conchords, and I was at last years show at Chicago theatre as well. I went last night to the Arie Crown. What a disappointment. Not necessarily the guys (although, I haven't been AS enamored with season 2's songs as much. maybe thats just me). But the venue! Ugh. Either the venue sucked, or the crowd last night just sucked balls. Either way, there was little to no energy from the crowd, when they tried to get crowd participation as the choir of ex-girlfriends, it was damn near silent. I felt almost embarrassed for my city.
I know their popularity has grown tremendously, but I'd rather see them in a smaller venue. (in the city, my vote would be Old Town School of Folk Music...i mean...it IS a Folk music place after all!). Something where it wouldnt get too crazy (for the older fans sake) but where they can play off the intimacy with the audience more.
ah well...still good to see the guys come through our city. Hopefully not the last time.

Its the Arie Crown not Aerie Crown.

Talk about stepping back in time to the 60's, what a trip that place is to see a concert. Although they don't really know how to handle a concert crowd.

I meant that it was an off-the-cuff rendition, not on the set-list. They haven't been performing it on this tour.

"Hip-Hopopotamus vs. The Rhymenoceros" is an unexpected gem. Wasn't that featured on the TV show? I thought that was one of their more popular songs.

"Hip-Hopopotamus/My rhymes are bottomless/...um..."
