The move comes after Brian Anderson -- who had been filling in for Dewayne Wise since Wise separated his shoulder in mid-April -- was injured on Wednesday. That left the Sox with Jerry Owens as the lone healthy centerfielder on their roster. Waived by the Sox earlier this spring before acceping a minor league assignment, he was seen leaving the clubhouse after Wednesday's game with all of his gear.
Pods had been without a team since being cut by the Colorado Rockies at the end of Spring Training. Few were sold on either Wise or Anderson even before the injuries, so perhaps Podsednik will become more than just an injury fill-in. Can the speedster regain the magic he displayed in 2005 and help the Sox solidify their most glaring weakness? Or will he simply add to the logjam of mediocre players trying to fill that hole?
Podsednik was a hero on 2005's World Series team, but when his numbers declined in '06 and he struggled through injuries in '07, the Sox decided to go in another direction when rounding out their outfield for '08 and spent last season with the Rockies.

Say what you want, but I know a lot of female Sox fans are gonna be happy about this move.
"At Fanhouse.com, an anonymous scout was not impressed with Podsednik’s skills. “He’s gone backward, man,” said a scout who recently watched Podsednik at Charlotte. “He doesn’t look good at all. I’d keep Jerry Owens over this Podsednik. He’s a below-average center fielder right now.”
The scout went on to say that Podsednik was clocked from home to first base in 4.2-4.3 seconds, which is below-average for a lefty hitter." - Daily Herald
Ricky, if that's true perhaps this won't help the Sox any... amazing how he's gotten progressively worse as his career progressed. He may have only a short time to prove his value to the club before Wise and Anderson return.
rumor is Jayson Nix is in Arlington with team, probably means BA is going to the DL
