Red-Light Cameras Not So Special?
Yeah, can you believe it? This month marks Chicagoist's fifth year of keeping you abreast of the happenings in Chicago. In blog years that makes us, what? Ten? Fifteen?
Naturally we couldn't let our fifth birthday pass without some kind of party, right? So we're asking you to keep Saturday, May 30 open on your calendar. That evening we're throwing our birthday bash at The Whistler in Logan Square and will feature live performances by two of our favorite local bands, Grammar and The Interiors. (We may also have a surprise or two up our sleeve on the live music front, but we're keeping mum on that for now.) Chicagoist DJs will spin music through the rest of the evening as we dance, mingle, and sample The Whistler's incredible specialty cocktails. They also have a lovely patio so we hope to chat with you under a clear summery sky as well.
We have more details to come, but those are the basics we hope will entice you to keep the date open in order to celebrate this milestone for the site!

aw, that's roller derby night. :( decisions, decisions...
The Derby should be done by 9:30 (and that's an event we whole-heartedly support) but we'll be partying into the wee hours of the morning so stop on by afterward!

No, as I think The Whistler is not a dog-friendly bar. He's in his usual place right now: plopped on the couch, soaking up sun through the window and snoring away. He'd better not forget the afternoon pot of coffee though...
BUT! If he WAS allowed in The Whistler, he'd encourage everyone to come by, say hit to us, and celebrate!
