Around Town: Bike The Drive

While it was a little cooler than expected yesterday - especially along the lake - plenty of folks still showed up to Bike the Drive. Here are some shots, shared by readers in our Flickr Pool, of yesterday's event. Have some you still want to share? Add them to our Flickr pool and we'll run a few more tomorrow.

well, it was a blast riding southbound. not so much going the other direction...that headwind out of the north was brutal.

I know! I went north first, then all the way south. The final stretch from 57th back to Grant Park nearly killed me.

...that headwind out of the north was brutal.

Try riding it with a flat tire. I made it all the way from Bryn Mawr to the Museum of Science and Industry and discovered my back tire was slowly losing air. By the time I got to 35th street it was pretty low but I tried to keep going. I got to Jackson before I called it quits, went to the subway and took the bike on the train home. But it was still fun.

That wind out of the north added a solid 12-15 minutes to my northbound leg. I did southbound LSD in about 40 minutes.

Yeah, that wind was vicious, though it was really fun heading south at first. I kind of wish I'd taken it into account while I was flying, though. I didn't realize exactly why it was such an easy ride until the Museum. I thought I was just good.
