We decided to head to Brookfield Zoo on Saturday morning and were there for the opening bell ringing at 9:30, when the stroller gang stormed the gates. The air was filled with little kid giggles and happy smiles because of the perfect weather. And because we arrived early in the day, many of the animals were out and about when it was possible to be the only onlooker. Peaceful!

Quigley Sets Out To Honor "Go Cubs Go" Songwriter

Zoo's always leave me with a melancholy feeling reminding me of a song by my southern crush,The Tigers have Spoken..... "They shot the tiger on his chain
In a field behind the cages
He walked in circles 'til he was crazy
And he lived that way forever"
Yeah....I feel the same way. I have not been to a zoo in over 20 years. I just can't stand seeing animals in cages.
Especially the elephants. They always seem so sad and depressed to me. It was an elephant who was in her enclosure with a giant chain around one of her legs that did it for me, she was just standing there kind of bobbing back and forth and it looked like tears running down from her eyes.
Also, the politics that go on behind closed doors at zoos...the way they acquire animals...it's all disgusting. I'm not going to support it.
Spook, you are so right. I enjoyed the zoo but the first thing I said when I walked inside was that they make me a little sad.
Those lines are very sad.
Where are the kangaroos?
LucLongley - I saw them but they were pretty far away and the pictures didn't turn out very well. But they definitely have them.
