what were the 15 individual counts? i'm SO glad he was found guilty. but, why 15 to 1? curious.

i can't even watch the video again. i won't.

I thought you said it wasn't a jury trial? The Sun Times article's headline says that the jury convicted him of one count.

Even MSM outlets get stuff wrong sometimes. It was a bench trial, judge only. Part of why it went so quickly. No need for jury selection.

True, but they shouldn't get a basic fact like that wrong.

And thanks for posting the picture of both of these douchebags. Nice to have faces to go along with the douche.

Oh fair point, I just hope commenters on this site keep this instance in mind next time I get "it's" and "its" mixed up.

I'm only anal about my own writing, thankfully.

What a miscarriage of justice. That bartender is still free to beat and abuse other innocent alcoholic shitbags. Who will protect us now?

What is he going to get for this?

Not sure, waiting to see. More information is finally coming out. Sentencing may not be for a while?

This may be dated but Illinois sentencing says: "Aggravated battery is a Class 3 felony for which the penalty is two to five years' imprisonment."

I have never seen or read anything about what the bartender has to say about the whole issue. Has she ever been interviewed?

Yup, not too long after it happened. She said relatives in Europe were calling her after they say the tapes over there a few days later. There as am article in the Sun Times.

those suits (especially the ties) just scream classy.

I'm pretty sure Abbate's ensemble was one of those shirts-and-tie-together-in-the-same-box dealios. Like the kind you get for your grade school graduation.

When I see an American flag tie I cannot help but think of Billy Mitchell and laugh.

If you've never seen King of Kong before, do yourself a favor and netflix that bad boy.

Everything he says is controversial

...

you know, like the abortion issue.

I think that it's great that Abbate has finally been found guilty. He never should have been a cop to begin with. The real shame is that this gorilla's actions are, and have, received more media attention than any of the police that were killed in the line of duty this year. Funny how, on the day that Officer Alex Valadez was shot in the back of the head all three major television outlets led with the Abbate story. That's a shame.

Oh...that Abbate...such a rebel. I couldn't help but notice he wasn't wearing his lapel pin.

I wonder if this photo is going on his "Douchebag of the Year" award.

Since he stated he was not acting as an officer and did not even announce his officer status at the bar, putting him in the general prison population seems like the best course of action.

They are big fans of police there! And when you add in beating up women 1/3 your size, there should be no other prisoner who dislikes him.
